Biography
Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Dhaka and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in human rights at the Department of International Law, Geneva Graduate Institute, as a Swiss Government Excellence Scholar. Over the past twelve years, he has worked with UN agencies including IOM, UNHCR, and WFP, building substantial experience in refugee protection, migration governance, and human rights.
He served as the first Secretariat Coordinator of the Bangladesh Civil Society Coordination Committee for Migration and is a member of the Migrant Forum in Asia. In 2024, he played a key role in organizing the Grassroots Forum on Migration Governance (GFMG) in Geneva, Switzerland — an international summit held as a parallel event to the GFMD Summit.
He teaches Bangladesh Studies at Daffodil International University, where he also leads the Centre for Global Migration Studies, directing research on migration, human rights, refugee protection, and climate-induced displacement. He is the Founder of MoRPH Bangladesh, a think tank dedicated to research and partnerships in human rights and national security.
Dr. Rahman has nine peer-reviewed publications, including a Scopus-indexed chapter with Springer Nature, and has secured four externally funded research grants in the past year. His work bridges academic research, field experience, and evidence-informed policy and teaching.
